Mali edged closer to reaching the Africa Cup of Nations knockout phase after a 1-1 draw with Tunisia in a Group E match at Stade Amadou Gon Coulibaly.
Saturday’s encounter saw Lassine Sinayoko opening the scoring to hand Mali the lead 10 minutes into the match when his low shot hit the upright before sailing into the net.
But Tunisia replied 10 minutes later when Hamza Rafia ghosted and pounced as Sikou Niakite took too long to react and clear a low cross from the left side.
It was a match in which both sides created a fair number of chances but often could not capitalise.
The draw saw Tunisia remain winless after two matches with just a point while Mali are still on top of the log and are close to confirming a place in the next round.
A win for Bafana over Namibia on Sunday would see Hugo Broos’ side climb up to the second spot in Grpup E.
