Four people have been reportedly killed with a bus burnt following heavy shooting at the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), Eastern Zone election in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital on Saturday.

Our correspondent who was at the Abuloma Model Primary School, venue of the IYC election reported that the exercise was going on smoothly when armed men numbering over 100 stormed the venue shooting sporadically and pulling down canopies.

It was gathered that the armed men stormed the election venue on the orders of a warlord who is interested in the outcome of the IYC election.

The shooting which lasted for over four hours threw Abuloma community and its environs into panic as residents and business owners scampered for safety.

The Rivers State Police Command in a statement by its Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, said the Commissioner of Police despatched tactical teams to the venue, but before the arrival of the police, the perpetrators had run into hiding.

The statement added that the Commissioner of Police has given a marching order to track down the perpetrators and bring them to face the full wrath of the law.

The Command also advised all law abiding citizens to go about their lawful businesses as normalcy has returned and report any suspicious movement to the Police.

Our correspondent reports that though human and vehicular movement has resumed, there is tension amongst resident over a reprisal attack by the opposing group.
