BREAKING NEWS: Eight Persons Killed In Helicopter Crash In Bonny Island

A helicopter belonging to East Wing Aviation with registration no 5NBQG has crashed near Bonny, in Rivers State killing all eight passengers on board.

The helicopter which, departed Port Harcourt Military Base, was said to be conveying the six passengers and two crew members to an oil facility in Bonny Finnima before it crashed into the Atlantic Ocean, at about 11.22am, on Thursday.

Our correspondent gathered that three bodies have so far been recovered while five others are still missing.

Sources close to Nigeria Saftey Investigations Board (NSIB) told our correspondent that the Board and the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority have taken over the investigations of the case to determine the cause of the accident.

A Nigeria Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) sources told our correspondent, on condition of anonymity, on Thursday afternoon that the cause maybe due to the prevailing bad weather in Port Harcourt and its environ.
